Phase 1: Invitational Testnet (Completed)

BitCanna's invitational testnet concluded on July 16th 2021, but feel free to browse our invitational testnet content in this section!

BitCanna’s testnet program contains 3 phases: internal, invitational (incentivized) and public. We’re happy to share that we have successfully concluded the internal testnet, and as a result, we’d like to introduce the next step: the invitational (incentivized) testnet.

To stay up to date with general updates regarding the testnet, we highly recommend subscribing to our social channels and our newsletter. If you are selected to participate in the invitational (incentivized) testnet you will be updated automatically by e-mail. If you'd like to apply for the invitational testnet, please have a read through this entire page before doing so!

Invitational Testnet Goals

πŸ›‘οΈ Secure the network Increase the amount of validators on our network. Vote on proposals through governance, and secure the BitCanna blockchain.

πŸ“— Educate and prepare validators Teach our community what it takes to run a validator node in the BitCanna network.

🌻 Expand the community Surround ourselves with a diverse and skilled group of people.

Invitational Testnet Details

πŸ“ The incentivized testnet will have 50 seats. Applicants not accepted in the first 50 seats will be added to a waitlist and could be brought in at a later time if there is a need for it or when new spots come available (note: this is no guarantee). βœ”οΈ Applicants will be selected based on:

  • Testnet experience, especially in Cosmos-based blockchains

  • Their share in BitCanna

  • Their ambition to become Validator in the mainnet

πŸ’° Rewards will be distributed in the form of BCNA coins, and will be awarded based on the variety of tasks completed by the testnet participants (KYC/AML required).

Requirements

The 50 selected participants will receive an e-mail to do KYC to become eligible to earn rewards. The results will be announced within 14 days after the testnet subscription closes (subscription closes on May 19th 13:00 UTC).

KYC / AML (proof of residence, copy of passport, passport selfie):

  • The following countries are excluded of earning BCNA rewards for legal reasons (of course, you can still participate): Afghanistan, American Samoa, The Bahamas, Botswana, Cambodia, Canada, China, DPRK North-Korea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guam, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Puerto Rico, Samoa, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, US Virgin Islands, USA and Yemen.

  • Minimum 18 years old

VPS or dedicated server:

  • Linux VPS with 4GB RAM, 2 Cores, 20 GB for Testnet

  • Linux VPS with 8GB RAM, 4 cores, 80 GB per year for Mainnet (the more resources, the better)

Pre-invited Professional Validators (actively updated)

Below you’ll find an overview of maximum 20 pre-invited professional validators to the network as they have proven to be able to add considerable value to the BitCanna project (these validators are in addition to the 50 available seats).

Tasks and Rewards

  • A total of 1.5 million BCNA (~$100K) in rewards can be earned by the users (Pre-invited validators and admins excluded)

  • Each user can earn up to 2500 points by completing all "normal" tasks, and up to an additional 1250 points by winning challenges

  • Each point earned for tasks can be exchanged for 8.45 BCNA coins

  • For Stage 5 IBC, Microtick allocated an additional 10.000 TICK to split between users that complete specific IBC tasks (more information on this later once we reach this stage)
